HĀ – History of Aotearoa

Creating safe learning environments for our communities to embrace the history of Aotearoa and imagine our shared future.

Our Workshops

  • Kōkōwai

Kōkōwai is a half-day workshop centered around pūrākau and the creation of kōkōwai. As you make art works with kōkōwai, you will explore the foundations of Te Ao Māori and our inherent connection to te taiao (the environment).

  • Kākano

Kākano is a three-day workshop that safely guides year 10 students through our local histories and empowers students to be active change-makers in our communities. Using art and indigenous pedagogies, students will express their emotions and vision for our future.

  • Kahikatea

Kahikatea is a one-year professional development programme. Kahikatea is designed for educators to engage in the foundations of Te Ao Māori, our local histories and deepen their own identity. Educators will experience creative pedagogies and be enabled with the tools to enrich their own teaching practice.

HĀ aims to continue the longstanding practice of pūrākau (oral storytelling) and creative education to help guide us into the future.
